Rugby Predict ("the app", Rugby Predict: Picks & Tips, package com.insider08.rugby) provides AI-generated rugby-union match predictions, news digests, quizzes and optional social prediction features. This policy explains what we process and why. Website: rugby.shchypak.com.
What we collect
Account information (optional)
If you create an account, we store your email address and a hashed password to authenticate you. You may use core read-only features via an app worker without registering. We block disposable email domains at sign-up.
App worker / device access
On first launch the app may authenticate a read-only worker session to fetch public content (fixtures, predictions, news). No personal name or phone number is required for this.
Usage and engagement
If you sign in, we store your match picks, group memberships, quiz answers and prediction likes linked to your account ID. This powers the predictor game and personal history.
Advertising data
We show ads via Google AdMob (rewarded and interstitial formats only — no banner ads). AdMob may use advertising identifiers to serve and measure ads. Where required by law, consent is requested through Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). We do not use location-based advertising.
Diagnostics
Standard device and app information (device model, OS version, app version) may be processed by our backend or analytics providers to maintain reliability and security.
What we do not collect
- Precise GPS location
- Contacts, photos or microphone
- Payment card details in-app (coin purchases are processed by Google Play)
How we use information
To operate and personalise core features, show and measure ads, analyse aggregate usage, prevent abuse, and maintain security. We do not sell personal information.
Sharing and processors
Data is processed by service providers acting on our behalf, including:
- Google — AdMob, User Messaging Platform (consent), and Google Play Billing for in-app purchases
- Self-hosted backend — PocketBase on pb.shchypak.com for accounts, predictions, picks and content
Match predictions and news content are not personal information. Providers process data under their own terms and our instructions where applicable.
Cross-border processing (POPIA s72)
Some providers (e.g. Google) process data on servers outside South Africa. We rely on their contractual safeguards and compliance with comparable data-protection principles.
Your rights (POPIA)
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and may object to processing. To delete your account data, contact rugby@shchypak.com from the email you used to register. Uninstalling the app removes locally cached data. You may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).
Children
The app is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Retention
Account records are kept while your account is active and removed on verified deletion request. Advertising and diagnostic data is retained per provider defaults (typically up to 14–26 months for analytics-related identifiers).
Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are stored hashed. Access to production systems is restricted to authorised operators.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
